Our History

Established in 2000, based in the UK, PrePay Technologies Ltd is a market leader in designing and delivering host-based-stored value card solutions, including gift cards, corporate incentive, insurance claim cards, prepaid debit cards, payroll cards, payout and travel cards.

Thanks to its unique focus, large companies such as Debenhams, the Arcadia Group and Western Union have mandated PrePay Technologies to design, develop and manage their stored-value card programmes. PrePay Technologies supports major programmes for clients such as Debenhams, Comet, Topshop, Topman, Burton, Miss Selfridge, Outfit, Evans, Dorothy Perkins and Pure, (the corporate reward card from the Grass Roots Group). PrePay Technologies is also the company behind the recently launched MasterCard Western Union Travel Cash Card.

As part of its portfolio of solution, PrePay technologies was the first company to issue back in 2001 a reloadable prepaid debit card targeted to the youth market, Splash Plastic www.splashplastic.com. More than 1m cards have been issued since the programme was launched.

PrePay Technologies Ltd. is the only company in the marketplace that focuses solely on the prepaid sector, giving it unrivalled understanding of the market and capabilities in developing it. The company is also wholly-focused on servicing companies in Europe and has in-depth understand of the regulatory and operational frontiers, which vary greatly from the US model.

Since it was created in 2000, the company has strived to develop a unique value proposition supported by three main core activities:

• Card issuing and processing
• E-money compliance and regulation

MasterCard International and PrePay Technologies are partners to roll-out stored-value MasterCard cards in the UK and Europe. This initiative is also supported by Clydesdale Bank, part of the National Australia Group which is the main bank sponsor behind PrePay Technologies.

PrePay Technologies Ltd's host-based platform is authorised on a real-time basis and fits existing card acceptance processes with secure multi-channel processing. PrePay Technologies also manages all regulatory aspects including Financial Services Authority liaison and money laundering compliance. MasterCard certified, the company is also FSA regulated and holds an Electronic Money Licence, which is fully passportable across Europe.

Pay Technologies operations and data centres are located in the UK.
